agir — TO ACT

[ah-JEER] (v.) Climbing down the steep slope made of loose slate, you hear a rumble. It's been snowing all winter, the ice is melting and the mountainside is giving in: there's a rockslide coming your way and you've got to act fast. You rely on your instincts and become as agile as a snow leopard, leaping down the hillside, your soles barely touching down before you're off again. To be agile is to act fast, or to agir rapidement in French.
